I can't pick just one favorite historical period, honestly... I've got too many and history is just too damn fascinating. The European middle ages are pretty much a font of interesting moments, as well as the 10,000-8,000 BC of Gobekli Tepe, and the much more recent 1890's and 1900's of the US.
