Man, I feel like all I do in these things is apologize anymore lol. Basically, though, I've been getting migraines lately from overtaxing my eyes so I've been trying to avoid doing too much... reading, drawing, computerizing, and pretty much everything I like to do in my spare time lmao. I'm gonna go get an eye exam done, check my eye pressure (because apparently there's a genetic component to glaucoma, and my mom has a manageable form of it, so..), and see if there's any kind of like... glasses I could get to help ease the eyestrain I get from doing up-close stuff for too long. I may also have astigmatism or something, which is why my old distance glasses kept giving me headaches even though they were the correct Rx. Anyways, point being, trying to pace myself so that I can continue making comics for a GOOD LONG TIME. Nobody wants to tear a retina at 30. Or ever, really, but... yannow.
It's also kind of interesting; every time I take a long break from drawing and have to remember how to do it, the stuff that I make at first usually turns out really good.
Like, I'm pretty happy with how these last couple of pages have turned out. What happens is that because I lose the muscle memory, I have to work extra hard to get it back, and I have to think about what I'm doing a lot more than before. As a result, interesting, thoughtful compositions come out more than once you get into your groove and the picture-making becomes habit again. Mostly, though, I'm just glad that these pages aren't hideously terrible.
For all one or two of you who dig the same music as me, GUESS WHERE I'M GONNA BE MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND?
Card-carrying membership to the California Desert Wizard's Association here I come.
I'm fuckin' stoked. I'd liveblog or whatever the hell the kids do at real things these days, but being without a smartphone, you'll have to settle for whatever pages of drawings I do while high and grooving to some killer music out in the middle of nowhere.
